I am an attorney with a commercial litigation practice in the Connecticut state and federal courts. Town where I work: Hartford Town where I live: West Hartford College I attended: Boston College My passion, hobby or special talent: American history/American presidency No. of LinkedIn connections: 344 Favorite place to network: Anywhere Favorite drink at a networking event: Bourbon How do I create connections in my profes- sional life? I am a member of various professional and industry organizations and am always look- ing for opportunities to enhance both the number and quality of organizations with which I am involved. What's been my biggest challenge professionally? I maintain a practice which involves the litigation of several hundred cases at any given time. My greatest professional chal- lenge has been, and continues to be, manag- ing those cases with a degree of care that achieves the substantive interests of the cli- ent and also satisfies my own standards for responsiveness and quality. What is the best advice I received? "That some achieve great success, is proof to all that others can achieve it as well." (Abraham Lincoln) If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with Kings — nor lose the common touch, If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds' worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And — which is more — you'll be a Man, my son! (Rudyard Kipling) What do I want my legacy to be? I simply want to be remembered as achieving my potential and for leaving my personal and professional worlds better than I found them. 40 Under Forty 2014 Brian is a trustee for Mercy Housing & Shelter Corp., an organization dedicated to helping the homeless.
