Erskine Awards (May) - Recognizes women who have demonstrated leadership in promoting racial and economic justice, and have reached exemplary levels of achievement in their professions and communities. Dance for Peace (September) - A team-driven dance marathon to benefit the YWCA's North Central Massachusetts Domestic Violence Program. Daybreak Breakfast (October) - Educates, motivates and inspires people to help build safe communities by raising awareness of domestic violence, supporting survivors and promoting healthy relationships. Sponsorship packages are available for these events and others throughout the year. Organize an Event: Gather your family, friends, neighbors or coworkers to hold an event and contribute the proceeds to the YWCA - bake sale, car wash, penny drive, yard sale are popular activities. Don't know what to do? Don't hesitate to call the YWCA's Development Office for assistance. Volunteer Opportunities Whether you have just a few hours to complete a one- time job or the time to make an ongoing commitment, there is important work to be done. Opportunities are available for individuals and small groups, for high school and college students, young female professionals, adults and retirees. Opportunities range from mentoring or tutoring a student and reading to our youngest children, to advocating for victims of domestic abuse or working on public policy issues, to helping with special event fund raising. If you have special skills such as photography, public relations, landscaping, building maintenance or simply want to lend your voice in support of women and girls by joining a committee, contact Human Resources at hr@ ywcacentralmass.org or complete a volunteer application online at www.ywcacentralmass.org/give/donate-your- time. Giving Opportunities Annual Giving is one of the YWCA's most important fundraising efforts. Funds raised provide unrestricted gifts that close the gap between the true costs of operating programs and existing funding. This allows the YWCA to be flexible and responsive to unexpected challenges and new opportunities that reflect the priority of fulfilling our Hallmark Initiatives - women's economic empowerment and racial justice.
