The volunteers, staff, members and donors of the Y are all united by a deep commitment to strengthen the foundations of our community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Fundraising, volunteerism and advocacy are critical parts of social responsibility at the Y. They are the engines that make our work possible and help us increase our reach into communities. We welcome all individuals, community leaders and business executives to join us in the following ways: • Join a Branch Board of Governors • Be a Chairperson for one of our many efforts, such as the Annual Campaign, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA Annual Event, Gene DeFeudis YMCA Annual Golf Classic • Serve on a special projects subcommittee • Help out on an event committee • Volunteer at a community event representing the Y • Serve as a mentor in the Minority Achievers Program YMCA of Central Massachusetts Future Goals OUR PROMISE The Y is a powerful association of men, women, and chil- dren of all ages and from all walks of life joined together by a shared passion: to strengthen the foundations of com- munity through programs and services that support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Youth Development – We believe in nurturing the potential of every child and teen, and at our Y we will be a community leader in maximizing the potential of all youth to lead a healthy and productive life. Healthy Living –With a focus on improving the health and well-being of our community, the Y will be a lead catalyst in supporting individuals and families in their pursuit of a healthy lifestyle. Social Responsibility – For 150 years our Y has been giving back and supporting our neighbors. We will continue to provide and promote a culture that welcomes and embraces all people and supports them in maintaining and achieving a better life. Mission Advancement – The Y will provide the adminis- trative, operational and financial resources necessary to achieve greater impact and advance our cause. Fundraising Events/Opportunities As a leading nonprofit partner throughout the country, the Y has the track record and on-the-ground presence to move communities forward, just as we do here in Central Massachusetts. As a charity, we work every day to address community needs and ensure that all are welcome and that no one is turned away for an inability to pay. One-hundred percent of the dollars raised go directly to support youth, teens and families in Central Massachusetts through our Financial Assistance Program. In 2013, the Y provided $3.0 million in financial assistance and program subsidies to our children, youth and families. We raise annual funds through the support of individuals, foundations, special events and our generous community and corporate partners. At the Y there are a million reasons to give. Everyone can help make a difference and help support our cause by participating in one of our annual events or by contacting the YMCA of Central Massachusetts to see how you can get involved and help. Visit our website at www.ymcaofcm.org for details of programs, events and volunteer opportunities. Volunteer Opportunities Giving Opportunities The YMCA Annual Campaign supports the Y's mission by raising much-needed funds. These funds provide scholarships to youth, teens, individuals and families who would otherwise not be able to afford Y programs, such as after school care, child care, youth development initiatives, summer camp, adult fitness classes and membership assistance. At the Y, we believe our success will always be measured by the lives we impact. The YMCA's 150th Capital Campaign will raise funds for capital projects throughout the association.
