Goal 2: Increase the proficiency of middle school girls in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) by serving as a national pilot site for the Girls Inc. "Eureka!®", Summer STEM and Leadership, and Google Made with Code programs. Goal 3: Reduce the incidence of violence and bullying among girls by offering research-based violence prevention and anti-bullying programs. Goal 4: Enhance leadership skills in high school girls by connecting them with professional women volunteers using our research-based Leadership Academy curriculum. Goal 5: Raise community awareness about the pressing and ever-changing needs of girls through collaboration and education. Fundraising Events/Opportunities Generous donations from all community sectors allow Girls Inc. of Worcester to maintain and grow quality affordable programs for over 1,400 under-served girls and young women annually. Each spring, Girls Inc. of Worcester's signature Girls Celebration event celebrates the successes of local women and girls, while inspiring the leaders of tomorrow. The event introduces friends of Girls Inc. to our work and mission – inspiring all girls to be strong (healthy), smart (educated) and bold (independent), and includes a silent and live auction, appetizers and beverages, and networking with our staff, board of directors, and girls to learn about opportunities to support our important work. Event sponsorships and donations to the silent auction are welcomed. Working directly with girls or "behind the scenes," volunteers enhance the girls' experience with Girls Inc. programs and contribute significantly to helping girls develop into strong, smart and bold individuals. While many of our volunteers are engaged directly through our corporate partners, we offer many individual opportunities, including chances to serve as a tutor, guest speaker, mentor, assist in our afterschool program, college internships, special events, serve on our board, Career Exploration Day and more. If you have a special talent or skill, please consider sharing it with our girls! We are dedicated to placing our volunteers in a job that is a good match for you and for us.
