54 Worcester Business Journal • Giving Guide 2014 www.wbjournal.com Worcester Art Museum Future Goals The Museum's top goals for the coming fiscal year build directly toward its Vision 2020, which states that by that year the Worcester Art Museum will be a top cultural desti- nation in New England, attracting over 200,000 visitors an- nually, playing a critical part in the cultural and economic vitality of the city of Worcester and emphasizing its unique narrative of connections…of people, cultures, and histories with the here and now of a globalized world. Specifically, in FY2015, the Museum will continue to: 1) Improve "Universal Accessibility" into and through the Museum facilities, 2) Enhance the "Visitor-Centric" service culture throughout the Museum, 3) Develop a plan for the full integration of the Higgins Collection, 4) Develop a master plan for the overall Museum campus. Fundraising Events/Opportunities The Museum has a robust schedule of widely-promoted exhibitions, programs, projects and events of all sizes and types for which financial support and in-kind donations are actively sought and prominently recognized as appropriate in all related written materials and public announcements. These include: • Annual Fundraiser/Gala Auction • Seasonal and Special Events and Programs, such as Holi- days@WAM, FLORA in Winter, Art All State and Art + Market • Ongoing events and programs such as Third Thursdays, Sunday Public Tours, Family Time Programs, Saturday Zip Tours and Free Admission Days • Hands-on and Eyes-on Learning programs such as Arms & Armor Demonstrations, Art Carts, Nude Drawing Sessions and One Day Artist Residencies Volunteer Opportunities Volunteers are an integral part of the Worcester Art Museum, empowering the fulfillment of its mission and providing invaluable connections to our community. Opportunities include: • Docents/Tour Guides [18-month training program and two-year commitment required] • Studio Class Assistants [year-round semester based opportunities] • School Group Chaperones [academic year opportunities] • Event Volunteers [event specific, short term opportunities] • Mailing Stuffers [regularly recurring, short term opportunities] • General Office Assistance [regularly recurring, short term opportunities] • Museum Committee Volunteers [annual opportunities, varying schedules] Giving Opportunities The Worcester Art Museum, a 501c3 non-profit organization, relies on individual, corporate and foundation gifts and grants of all sizes to steward and make accessible its encyclopedic collection of art and artifacts "for the benefit of all." The Museum secures this support through the following and other programs and efforts: • Stephen Salisbury Society ($1250+) - for higher levels of Museum support and access • Business Partner ($500+) and Corporate Sponsor Programs ($5,000+) - for building and promoting businesses and giving back to the community • Annual Fundraiser/Gala Auction Sponsorship -for celebrating and supporting the Museum's vital role in the region • Membership My Way ($60+) and Benefactor Programs ($200+) - for free admission and greater access to the Museum and its programs • Honor and Memorial Gifts - for honoring a friend, family member or colleague with a gift that pays forward • Legacy Society - for including the Museum in estate plans • Institutional Partnership - for connecting students, faculty and alumnae with Museum access Board of Directors Catherine Colinvaux, President Matthias Waschek, Director MISSION STATEMENT Service area: Regional, with a strong Central Massachusetts presence and growing national following "To promote art and art education...for the benefit of all" -- to serve and advance Worcester and the region by making our growing collection accessible and relevant via exhibitions and programming and to participate in the social glue of Worcester by engaging and connecting a broadening base of constituents.
