Ron Burton not only had a vision, but made the Ron Burton Training Village (RBTV) a reality. Today his children and many others dedicated to the mission of the Village carry on the tradition. Over the past twenty - nine years the Ron Burton Training Village has served more than 4,000 young men and women in their spiritual, physical and educational growth. Twelve months a year, over a seven year period from age 11 through 17, campers are guided, supported and mentored in some of life's most critical areas including: education, social skills, morals, values, leadership and fitness. The most intense part of this mentorship occurs during the summer when the campers attend our five-week training session in Hubbardston, Massachusetts. The summer sessions are just the beginning. Campers are led through seven years of training, provided opportunities to accept full college scholarships, placed in internships with our corporate partners, and possibly hired into careers through RBTV. RBTV stresses diversity with a balanced roster of minority and non-minority campers. Though the youngsters come from very diverse backgrounds, the majority of the youth who attend the training village are kids from economically disadvantaged and often troubled and at-risk situations. These youngsters have excessive stress in their homes, neighborhoods and social lives and are looking for direction. The Ron Burton Training Village curriculum directs the focus of these individuals toward a positive and productive target whose bull's-eye is; a love for God and ones fellow human beings, physical adeptness, leadership and academic excellence. The site is set in a rural setting far from any urban influences. Isolated in their own peaceful world, we surround the kids with nature, trees, streams and lakes at our 300 acre Hubbardston campus. There are four core values of the camp: Love, Peace, Patience and Humility. The camp's philosophy is to inspire the consideration of others before self and motivate an understanding that faith and morals need to be the foundation through which they approach life. RBTV was created by the vision of a single man, but is now carried forward by a team of dedicated family, friends and associates. Goal 1 Expand fundraising opportunities in order to accomplish the RBTV mission. Goal 2 Expand list of corporate partners providing internship and career opportunities to RBTV alumni. Goal 3 Provide college accession opportunities for all RBTV graduates. Goal 4 Increase endowment to further secure RBTV's sustainability. Goal 5 Reach out to a diverse group of motivated students who seek opportunities to succeed in life.
