25 YEARS: IMPACTFUL COMPANIES
A
nthony Consigli has kept a 98-year-
old business in its fourth generation
of family ownership while leading it to
national recognition. Consigli
Construction is – and, as the company
states proudly, "always will be" - a fami-
ly-owned business. Consigli, president
since 1994, is widely recognized as a
leader in the New England construction
industry, serving on the board of
Associated General Contractors of
Massachusetts.
As it approaches its centennial, the
current generation of Consiglis, which
includes Anthony's brother, Matthew,
who is vice president, is making the fam-
ily quite proud.
Last year, Consigli Construction won
AGC America's annual Alliant Build
America Award for Building Renovation
for its work on the New York State
Capitol building. The Albany project
was completed 22 months ahead of
schedule, saving the state $2.4 million.
Consigli Construction is used to being
honored. In 2009, the Worcester
Business Journal chose the firm as its
Top Family Business with 250-plus
employees. The Boston Globe ranked
the company No. 4 in 2011 and No. 13 in
2012 among "large employers" in its
annual Top Places to Work in
Massachusetts awards. And Engineering
News-Record magazine ranked the
$436-million company 31st in 2013
among its Top 100 Green Contractors in
the U.S., based on annual revenue. A
year earlier, Consigli ranked 37th.
Another important aspect of the busi-
ness is its Consigli Foundation, which
has donated more than $1 million to
Central Massachusetts charities since its
founding 13 years ago.
