6 Worcester Business Journal • February 16, 2015 www.wbjournal.com first quarter of its 2014 fiscal cycle. The report came on the same day Sevcon announced a deal with a large German manufacturer of trucks and buses to develop and supply controllers for a new line of integrated starter genera- tors. WORCESTER — A former Telegram & Gazette employee is looking to online fundraiser KickStarter to fund a Worcester newspaper that will be avail- able online and in print. Worcester Media Partners has named its paper the Worcester Sun. The new publication will encompass online content as well as a Sunday print edition, according to a statement from the company. The company was co-founded by Mark Henderson, former online director of the T&G. The fundraising goal is $150,000 with a March 1 deadline. According to KickStarter rules, the project will only be funded if the goal is met within the specified timeframe. MILLBURY/OXFORD — The private company that provides water to Millbury and Oxford is passing along savings from a revised tax classification to nearly 19,000 households, including customers in those two Central Massachusetts towns. Aquarion Water Co. (AWC) said the 3.23-percent credit on homeowner, business and municipal water bills will run through the end of 2015. The savings come from a $410,000 tax credit as a result of a change in how the Internal Revenue Service allows the company to account for infrastructure investments. WORCESTER — Personal informa- tion for as many as 14,000 patients of UMass Memorial Health Care's out- patient practices may have been com- promised last year, the health care system said. UMass Memorial said it was notifying potentially affected patients. In a statement, UMass Memorial (UMMHC) said it learned of the potential breach within its UMass Memorial Medical Group unit in April 2014. It "immediately" launched an investigation and report- ed it to law enforcement. UMMHC said it waited to announce the action now because law enforcement officials required withholding notification of patients during their investigation. WORCESTER — Researchers at University of Massachusetts Medical School and Worcester Polytechnic Institute, helped by a $2-million grant from the National Institutes of Health, are developing a smartphone app that will help users better understand why they overeat. The three-year project, called RELAX, will enable patients to track what they eat daily using a smartphone and a web-based tool clinicians can use to access patient information to help inform their treatment, according to a statement released by both institutions. WORCESTER — Northworks Bar & Grille has lost its lease and closed its doors on Grove Street in Worcester. O wner Joe Marrone told GoLocalWorcester.com that the park- ing lot across the street from the eatery, at 106 Grove St., had been owned by Northworks' landlord, Northworks Properties. It became WPI's, Marrone said, and for several months the school allowed restaurant patrons to park there, but could no longer do so because it needed the spaces. Marrone, in the GoLocalWorcester.com story, said he unsuccessfully tried to renegotiate his lease in view of the parking change, and received an eviction notice. Jeffrey Solomon of WPI said parking in the area has "been a challenge." He told the WBJ: "The Northworks Bar and Grill has long been a fixture for the WPI community, and we are all saddened to hear of its closure." n >> Continued from previous page Jan. Feb. Mar.
