" At WinterKids, we make it our business to provide families, schools and communities with the option to get outside, get active and have FUN! Our statewide programs and events offer special oppor- tunities for all kids to be active and healthy during the winter. e organization is in its final year of a three-year strategic plan and we are slated to meet our goal of reaching 50,000 Maine kids in preschool through 7th grade with key strategies that include: f Focusing our school programs on kids with the least resources and access to outdoor winter activity. the WinterKids Challenge empowers teachers in the most remote areas of Maine to get their students outside and active using lessons from the WinterKids Guide to outdoor Active learning (GoAl). f Promoting and developing our family programs in areas of high demand and high accessibility to get kids outside in the winter, and year-round. e WinterKids Passport and funPass introduce kids to new winter activities at 50 participating winter sports areas in Maine. f Providing events and equipment to communities with high population, easy access and an opportunity for broad messaging to get families outside and active together. f Evaluating our programs collectively and individually, with the involvement of stakeholders, to ensure quality and impact. f Diversifying our income and investing in board resources, paid and volunteer staff and equipment to increase our capacity in Maine, and eventually beyond. funDRAiSinG eventS/oPPoRtunitieS Welcome to Winter, Jan. 17, 2015, Payson Park, Portland – is annual event helps families put the "win" in winter by offering the opportunity to try sled- ding, snowshoeing, ice skating, tubing and more. Join us as a participant, volun- teer or sponsor. WinterKids Downhill 24, March 7-8, 2015, Mt. Abram, Greenwood – Our signature winter fundraiser, the Downhill 24 invites teams to compete to see who can clock the most runs in 24 hours and who can raise the most money for WinterKids. e event is filled with entertainment and food around the clock. In the first two years we raised over $100,000 for WinterKids! Please join us as a skier, rider, spectator, sponsor or volunteer. GivinG oPPoRtunitieS Donations to WinterKids are tax deductible and can be made online at www.winterkids.org by clicking the donate tab on the homepage or mailed to PO Box 7566, Portland, ME 04112. We welcome individual gifts of cash and stock to the WinterKids fund. Gifts can be made once, monthly, quarterly, or as you wish. As a special tribute, you may also further personalize your gift by making it in memory of or in honor of some- one special to you. Many employers offer Matching Gift Programs to enhance their employees' charitable giving efforts.
