Pine Tree Society is focused on three key areas for development: services to help young people with autism transition to adulthood; meaningful work opportunities for adults with disabilities; and supportive education opportuni- ties for families caring for children with disabilities. At the same time, Pine Tree Society continues to evolve its current services including, but not limited to, sign language interpreting, Assistive Technology and case management, to best meet the needs of the people it serves. Additionally, Pine Tree Society is intensely focused on modernizing Pine Tree Camp, an extraordinary summer camp that has been transforming the lives of Maine children and adults with disabilities since 1945. Changes to the beautiful 285-acre campus address challenges related to the camp's aging build- ings and the increasing needs related to the care, comfort and safety of campers while creating a campus that can be utilized on a year-round basis. funDRAiSinG eventS/oPPoRtunitieS Pine Tree Society's special events are focused on raising money to support Pine Tree Camp's Campership Fund. Since it opened in 1945, Pine Tree Camp has welcomed all who could benefit from a barrier-free summer camp opportunity regardless of their ability to pay the $1,900 tuition. Last year, Pine Tree Camp provided nearly 99% of its 650 campers with full or partial tuition assistance. e Open Door Policy remains firmly in place, thanks in part to the support of participants and business sponsors throughout Maine. Dysart's Snowmobile Ride-in to benefit Pine tree Camp: Feb. 6-8, 2015, Newport – Celebrating 42 years, the event draws community members as well as snowmobilers from throughout the state. Paddle for Pine tree Camp Classic: June 2015, Kennebec River – e 19th annual Paddle for Pine Tree Camp features a family-friendly paddle on the Kennebec River.
