Shelton-based Wiffle Ball, which was founded in 1953 by the Mullany family and makes light- weight plastic balls and bats used in backyard baseball games, has been sold to the Rose family of Scottsdale, Arizona, developers of Big League Wiffle Ball. Logan Rose, a sophomore at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, will lead the company. Wiffle Ball's headquarters, manufacturing operation and 12 to 15 employees will remain in Shelton. Former executives David and Stephen Mullany will stay involved as advisers. The new owners plan to expand marketing and modernize the company's website. Hartford begins $10M data center demolition near Dunkin' Park The city of Hartford has begun exterior demolition of a long-vacant former data center next to Dunkin' Park, which will open the roughly 3-acre site for potential apartment and hotel development. The city is using $10 million in state funding to raze the five-story building at 150 Windsor St. The property is expected to be cleared and graded during the first quarter of 2027. Stamford-based RMS Cos., which has completed 507 apartments around the ballpark, holds develop- ment rights to the city-owned site. RMS founder and CEO Randy Salvatore is considering a 120-room boutique hotel and up to 250 apartments, although plans remain preliminary. He expects a clearer concept within the next few months.
