Our fears were for naught. We've been pleasantly surprised to field strong nominations every year. In a state with the oldest median age (44.8), it's exciting to see Maine gener- ate young people who are enthusiastic, hard work- ing and also have a compassionate side. ey're as likely to quote the likes of Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King Jr. as they are their own parents and grandparents. Profiles of this year's remarkable crew of new- comers start on Page 14. Wrapping up On the Road series Mainebiz just completed its "On the Road" series with a visit to Fryeburg. I wanted to give a shout out not only to the folks in Fryeburg and Bridgton, but also the other places where we've made stops: Biddeford, Yarmouth, Rockland/ Owls Head, Orono, Houlton and Rumford. e On the Road series is a great way for the Mainebiz team to get to know the local leaders and find out what's going on. By the same token, they serve as an introduction for businesspeople looking to make connections in the host towns and cities. Looking ahead to 2027, we plan to make On the Road stops in South Portland, Brunswick, Lewiston- Auburn, Caribou, Bar Harbor, Augusta and York.
