What is happening across the busi- ness landscape? Which companies are expanding their workforces and which are cutting jobs? Who is investing in the region? What is driving growth in Central Massachusetts, and what are the headwinds holding back some industries? e Worcester Business Journal will tell those stories. We will break business news and engage our readers through comprehensive reporting. We will not only report what happens in the business community, but explain why and what factors are at play. As the recently named editor of the Worcester Business Journal, I under- stand our mission is to deliver news that business-minded people across Central Massachusetts cannot get any- where else. e WBJ will continue to be the leading source of business news in Central Mass. I have spent my journalism career in a variety of roles, from reporting news and writing columns to editing copy and managing news teams. I worked at the Telegram & Gazette in Worcester in several positions, including local desk chief, business editor and managing editor. As busi- ness editor, I conceived, managed and contributed to the award-winning Remaking Worcester series, a yearlong investigative look at economic devel- opment in the city. e project was a deep dive into downtown Worcester, CitySquare, real estate, restaurants, rental housing, transportation, neigh- borhoods, and arts and entertainment. In addition, I managed news cov- erage of the Boston Red Sox Triple-A affiliate's move from Pawtucket to Worcester and the development of Polar Park in Kelley Square. Most recently, I was the managing editor of Northeastern Global News on the Communications team at Northeastern University in Boston. I oversaw a team of reporters producing digital journalism for a broad audi- ence. e content drove readership while advancing the university's mis- sion of experiential learning, research, globalization, entrepreneurship and artificial intelligence. at role gave me another perspec- tive on what it takes to compete for people's attention in a rapidly chang- ing media environment. Now, I'm back in Central Massachu- setts and returning to business news. e Worcester Business Journal aims to build relationships through- out the Central Massachusetts business community, but we will ask tough questions and deliver objective reporting. WBJ covers a wide range of in- dustries in Central Massachusetts, including real estate development, life sciences, biotechnology, biomedical manufacturing, insurance, banking, construction, hospitality and the restaurant scene. WBJ writes person- ality profiles on business leaders and introduces the community to people making an impact. WBJ reports on everything from the region's largest employer to small family businesses. We want to hear from you. Please reach out and tell us what types of stories you want to read in Central Massachusetts' leading source of busi- ness news. Tell us who is shaping your business, fueling the local economy, creating jobs and developing innova- tive projects. I'm excited to join the Worces- ter Business Journal team and look forward to engaging with the business community. – Mark Conti, editor Editor looks forward to telling stories that resonate with the business community F R O M T H E E D I T O R W PHOTO | MATT WRIGHT
