Charlie Stevens has been named general manager of the UConn men's basketball program, succeeding Tom Moore, who retired. Stevens spent five years with the NBA's San Antonio Spurs, most recently as director of grassroots scouting. UConn also promoted Andrew Hurley to assistant general manager after two seasons as a graduate assistant. Hurley, son of head coach Dan Hurley, previously played four seasons for UConn. Connor Creech was promoted from graduate assistant to video coordi- nator and director of analytics. He previously was a graduate assistant at the University of Texas and played at Northern Colorado. Luiz Verzegnassi has been named CEO of Waste Harmonics Keter, a Stamford-based company that manages waste and recycling services for more than 700 business customers across North America. Verzegnassi most recently was president and CEO of GE HealthCare's services division. He previously held leadership positions at GE HealthCare, Acument Global Technologies, Volk- swagen and Ford Motor Co. Quinnipiac University has promoted Alison Witherspoon to vice president for strategic programs and part- nerships and named Shannon LeGault associate vice president for strategic programs and events. Witherspoon, who joined the Hamden university in 2022, previously was vice president of contin- uous improvement at American College of Education. She holds a doctorate from Arizona State University. LeGault joined Quinnipiac in 2024 after more than a decade in conference and event planning roles at Yale University. She holds a bachelor's degree from Quinnipiac and a Certified Meeting Professional credential. The two will lead Quinnipiac's new Office of Strategic Programs & Initiatives, which oversees work- force development, pre-college programs, partnerships, conferences and events. Regional law firm Barclay Damon has hired Cristina Salamone as a partner in its Commercial Litigation & Complex Trials and Labor & Employment practice groups. She is based in the firm's New Haven office. Salamone previously worked at Updike, Kelly & Spellacy P.C. and has more than 15 years of experi- ence representing businesses and business owners in commercial litigation and employment disputes. Her practice includes contract, partnership, workplace and business governance matters. Hartford Stage has elected Donald Allan Jr. president of its board of directors. Allan is executive chair and former president and CEO of New Britain-based Stanley Black & Decker. Hartford Stage also named Richard D. Costello vice president, Devon C. Francis treasurer and Elease Wright secretary. Kristi Hanney has been promoted to vice president and deputy general counsel at casino owner and operator Mohegan. Hanney joined Mohegan in 2022 as senior corporate counsel. She will oversee legal opera- tions, litigation, finance and development matters and lead corporate gover- nance, contract negotiations and compliance efforts. Hanney previously operated her own Connecticut law practice and was a partner at Louden Caisse Hanney LLC. She earned her law degree from Fordham University. Nimrod Barak has been named chief AI officer at Synchrony, a Stam- ford-based consumer finance company that offers credit cards, installment loans and other financing products through partnerships with retailers and other businesses. Barak, who started the role June 30, is responsible for Synchrony's artificial intelligence strategy, governance and implementation. He previously was managing director and head of the AI Center of Excellence and Emerging Tech- nologies at Citi and has more than 20 years of engineering, data and AI experience.
