Senior Estimator | Preconstruction Manager Brendan Monahan, 38 Associate vice president of clinical services, site administrator, Marlborough, UMass Memorial Medical Center, in Worcester and Marlborough Residence: Ludlow Colleges: Fairfield University; Fitchburg State University Brendan Monahan traded journalism for health care, where he is helping reshape UMass Memorial Medical Center's Marlborough Campus. Monahan oversees day-to-day campus operations and its integration into UMass Memorial Medical Center. Inpatient volume has increased 22% year over year, while Monahan is overseeing two major capital projects: a $40-million emergency department expansion and $56-million proton therapy center. Previously, Monahan helped overhaul UMass Memorial's anesthesia and perioperative services amid workforce challenges. The turnaround produced a $9.8-million year- over-year budget improvement, helped increase surgical volume 18%, and significantly reduced physician and nurse anesthetist attrition. Monahan helped fundraise for the G.R.A.C.E. Rett Athletic and Education Complex in Uxbridge, created in memory of Grace Rett, his wife's cousin. Mooradian, in Worcester Residence: Worcester Colleges: Northeastern University; Boston University School of Law Alex Mooradian has built an immigration law practice focused on helping immigrants, refugees, and trafficking survivors navigate some of the legal system's highest-stakes cases. Since 2023, Mooradian has added three immigration attorneys and expanded his firm to 11 employees. The practice advises thousands of immigrants annually, including helping more than 600 Haitian arrivals complete Temporary Protected Status applications. Mooradian has expanded the firm's work assisting survivors of sex trafficking, labor trafficking, and intimate partner violence. He previously secured asylum and related benefits for approximately 80 Afghan evacuees and worked on family reunification efforts following Operation Allies Welcome. His pro bono work includes representing asylum-seekers with disabilities and advising nonprofits and health centers on immigration policy and enforcement. Mooradian chairs Worcester RISE for Health, which provides health care for refugees and recent arrivals, and is a corporator of the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester.
