Kwasi Acheampong, 36 Executive director, Our Bright Future, Inc., in Southbridge Residence: Brimfield College: Worcester State University Kwasi Acheampong spent nearly a decade running youth programs out of borrowed and rented spaces. Now, the nonprofit he founded has a 10,600-square-foot Southbridge facility of its own. In 2025, Acheampong led Our Bright Future's purchase of the Innovation Hub, spearheading a capital campaign and securing hundreds of thousands of dollars in philanthropic support. Once completed, the facility is expected to nearly double the nonprofit's reach from approximately 575 students annually to more than 1,000, with robotics, 3D printing and design, financial literacy, tutoring, workforce development, arts, and recreation. Acheampong, who immigrated from Ghana at age 10 with his parents and nine siblings, built a career in sales, accounting, banking, and business development. He has since applied that experience to growing Our Bright Future while building partnerships with businesses, foundations, and donors. Acheampong serves on the boards of The Last Green Valley, Tri-Community Exchange Club, St. Joseph School, and United Way of South Central Massachusetts. He serves on the Nichols College Advisory Board and is a corporator at Cornerstone Bank. What TV show, book, or movie best describes your life journey so far? Agyepong provides pro bono assistance to residents navigating probate and family court. In 2024, the Supreme Judicial Court Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Services honored her with an Adams Pro Bono Publico Award. She helped a parent of a child with special needs secure educational services and accommodations after they had been denied. Agyepong serves on the boards of Community Legal Aid, Rainbow Child Development Center, Worcester Public Library Foundation, and Massachusetts Bar Foundation. She co-chairs the Worcester County Bar Association's Committee for Anti-Racism and Equality and chairs the Massachusetts Bar Association's Judicial Youth Corps, a program she participated in as a Worcester high school student.
