Tami Gower, director of the accounting program and clinical professor, College of Business at the University of New England in Biddeford, was elected as a board member. The University of Maine System added Christo- pher Gordon, Richard Rosen, Blake Shepherd and Matthew Webber as members of its board of trustees, all nominated by Gov. Janet Mills and confirmed by the Maine Senate this spring. Six Maine creameries were recognized at the 2026 Northeast Gold Medal Cheese Competition, earning awards across multiple categories in a regional contest. Balfour Farm in Pittsfield, Fuzzy Udder Creamery in White- field, Lakin's Gorges Cheese in Waldoboro, Spring Day Creamery in Durham, Sunset Acres Farm in Brooksville and Three Charm Farm in Alfred were all listed as winners. Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor said it earned a five-star over- all rating and was included on Forbes' first-ever "Top Hospitals by State" list. e hospital also announced that it was recognized by US News & World Report in its "Best Hospitals" rankings, earning honors in "High Performing Specialty Badge in Cardiology and Heart & Vas- cular Surgery;" "Best Regional Hospital Badge," recognized in 11 types of care; "Best Regional Hospital for Community Access Medallion;" and "High Performing Procedures and Conditions Emblems," recognized in 10 areas.
