Maine Connectivity Authority, a public agency based in Portland that is expanding connectivity and digital opportunity statewide, an- nounced a total of $3.3 million in grant awards for capital improve- ments to make economic and social opportunity possible for in- dividuals and communities through digital access. Awardees included the Bangor Public Library, Maine State Library, Portland Public Library and SeniorsPlus. The Hannaford Charitable Foundation in Scarborough an- nounced it is investing $500,000 in Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine's effort to expand its Portland campus and create new opportunities for youth throughout the region. The investment will sup- port the development of the organi- zation's expanded Greater Portland Youth Campus, including the new Bridge to Success Center The Maine Sports Commission in Portland said it awarded a total of $26,138 through its Spring 2026 Event Support Grant Program to nine sporting events taking place across six regions of the state. The Maine Community Foundation in Ellsworth announced it was award- ed a 2026 Civic Hub grant totaling $400,000 from the Trust for Civic Life, a national grantmaker supporting rural communities. The funding will allow the foundation to strengthen civic capacity in rural areas to help address some of the big challenges their com- munities are now facing. In July, the Maine Office of Community Affairs in Augusta officially took over the responsibility of regulating manu- factured housing in the state through the Manufactured Housing Program, formerly known as the Manufactured Housing Board. Katahdin Bankshares Corp., the par- ent company of Katahdin Trust Co. in Houlton, announced 2026 second- quarter earnings of $2.4 million, or 76 cents per common share, and $4.9 million for the first six months or $1.54 per common share.
