Serving and treating people with visual impairments who cannot afford care; 2. Helping combat poverty by pro- viding food, clothing, medicine and education; 3. Empowering girls and women through self-defense programs and education; 4. Discovering the inner potential of underprivileged children in the community by opening a "School of Good Citizenship;" 5. Teaching classes on managing personal finances and public speak- ing for underprivileged children in the community. Ultimately our mission includes establishing the "JOYGURU HU- MANITARIAN CENTER" in Worces- ter, MA. This facility will include an eye clinic, food distribution center for the homeless and those less fortunate, and classroom facilities where these and other services will be provided free of charge to the underprivileged. TOP FUNDING SOURCES 30-40% Family Contribution 60-70% Private Donors SERVICE AREA We serve individuals who are dis- advantaged, primarily in the City of Worcester, at community church- es, public schools, and homeless shelters. We also sponsor and organize eye-camps and cataract surgeries for needy people in Third World countries; local volunteers are welcome to travel and participate in the project. In addition to donating $30,000.00 to the City of Worcester during the pandemic, JOYGURU HUMANITAR- IAN SERVICES donated $50,000 to help Covid patients in a hospital in Kolkata, India, $50,000 to help settle Afghani refugees in the City of Worcester. The Foundation also contributed $25,000.00 to the Worcester Housing Authority to support elderly and differently-abled people who needed to be evacu- ated from their apartments due to flooding caused by cracks in frozen pipes this past February. In addition, JOYGURU Foundation donated $25,000.00 to Nativity School, Worcester for adding and opening a Girls School and con- tributed $2,500.00 each to African Community for Education (ACE) program and to Bernard Family Community Kitchen to build a new kitchen where food will be cooked for underprivileged people in the community. FUTURE GOALS 1. Raise $1 million by year 2027. 2. Build or acquire a property to estab- lish the JOYGURU HUMANITARIAN SERVICES in Worcester. 3. Expand Eye-Camps, offering free eye care services and surgeries to people who are underprivileged and have visual impairments locally and in ird World countries around the globe. 4. Offer free food services to lo- cal homeless and hungry people in Worcester and in other communities. Partner with and contribute to local organizations attempting to eradicate hunger. 5. Eradicate homelessness in the local community by partnering with the City of Worcester to provide education and foster independence. 6. Empower more women and girls by offering free self-defense classes at the JOYGURU HUMANITARIAN SERVICES and at local schools and organizations. 7. Support and empower disadvan- taged children by inspiring them to realize their potential to do good in the community and make a difference; award scholarships; provide schools with supplies and the tools they need to better serve students; encourage good citizenship and entrepreneurship; and help children fulfill their inner passion. 8. Provide support and humanitarian services to victims of natural disasters in an effort to restore balance in the world. Support projects that will erad- icate systemic racism and bring justice and peace to our communities. 9. Plan to drive from Worcester to Los Angeles and back in a "Coast to Coast Charity by Wheel." Our goal is to stop at centers for the visually impaired, ref- ugee centers, food pantries and organi- zations, and schools where underprivi- leged students are educated. Supporting these organizations financially will be the mission. FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES We host classical musical concerts and dance programs to introduce cultures and traditions of India to our local community. We plan to host inspirational speeches that feature well-known, respected speakers. We will host fundraising dinners with re- nowned and distinguished leaders from different professions. A bequest form is available at our web- site. We are a non-profit charitable 501 (c) (3) organization and donations are deductible if qualified, as per the IRS tax code and laws. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES We encourage individuals and busi- nesses to consider volunteering their time and services to JOYGURU HU- MANITARIAN SERVICES. We offer several volunteer opportunities: • serve food to underprivileged people; • run pro bono self-defense classes; • provide professional services in the health and eye clinic and camps; • manage our social media presence; and • create promotional items and marketing materials for our fundraising events, projects, announcements, and news about JOYGURU.
