Behavioral health merger creates statewide nonprofit The Village for Families & Chil- dren and Wellmore have completed their previously announced merger, creating one of Connecticut's largest behavioral health providers. The combined nonprofit will serve more than 30,000 people annually in over 100 Connecticut communities and employ nearly 1,000 people. Hector Glynn will continue as presi- dent and CEO, while former Wellmore CEO Gary Steck becomes chief impact officer. The organization provides behav- ioral health, crisis intervention, substance use, counseling and early childhood services. According to their latest IRS filings, The Village reported $62.5 million in revenue for fiscal 2025, while Wellmore reported $20.6 million in revenue for fiscal 2023. Putnam Science Academy closes amid financial, accreditation woes Putnam Science Academy, a for-profit college preparatory boarding school, has closed after losing its accreditation and facing mounting financial and regulatory problems. School President Tieqiang Ding said in a letter that the school had ceased operations immediately and turned payroll matters over to the state Department of Labor. The closure follows the loss of the school's accreditation in late 2025, which stripped it of its status as a state-ap- proved private school. The proposed restaurant would occupy 4,062 square feet at 98 Elm St. in a commercial building partially occupied by cannabis retailer Zen Leaf. Plans call for a full interior buildout with a commercial kitchen, seating for 76 customers indoors and an 824-square-foot outdoor patio with seating for 38. The proposal also includes new signage, lighting and minor exterior improve- ments. SBA's CT district director departs with buyout Catherine Marx has stepped down as district director of the U.S. Small Business Administration's Connecticut office after accepting a voluntary buyout offered as the agency undergoes a reorganization. Marx, who led the Hartford office since 2020, said her decision to depart was voluntary. She will remain a federal employee with pay and benefits through Dec. 31 under the buyout agreement. Marx said the buyout was offered agency-wide, with the exception of disaster assistance staff, and that she was not the only leader in the and a state securities enforcement action alleging its owners raised at least $5.7 million from investors through misrepresentations about the school's finances. UConn Foundation CEO to depart during $1.5B fundraising campaign Amy Yancey will step down as pres- ident and CEO of the UConn Founda- tion this summer to become president and CEO of the Santa Clara University Foundation in California. The leadership change comes as UConn's $1.5 billion "Because of UConn" fundraising campaign has raised more than $900 million since its launch last year. The foundation's board has appointed Richard Eldh, a board member and co-chair of the campaign, as president and CEO effective July 1. A 1981 UConn School of Business graduate, Eldh co-founded business research and advisory firm SiriusDeci- sions, which was acquired by Forrester Research in 2019. CT bank plans Florida office Stamford-based Patriot Bank plans to open a flagship office in Palm Beach, Florida, by the end of the year as it continues expanding its wealth banking business. The move follows a strategic shift under President and CEO Steven C hristopher O'Connor has stepped down as CEO of Yale New Haven Health System after 14 years with the organization. The health system announced June 29 that President Pamela Sutton-Wallace has been named acting CEO, effective immediately, while the board conducts a national search for a permanent successor. O'Connor, who became CEO in 2022, will serve as a special adviser to the board chair during the transition. He led the system through financial challenges, an organizational restructuring and the ultimately unsuc- cessful effort to acquire Prospect Medical Holdings' three Connecticut hospitals. His tenure also included major system expansion efforts, including ongoing construction of the $838 million Adams Neurosciences Center, which is scheduled to open next year.
