America at 250: Perspectives from Con-
necticut's business community
A
s the United States marks its 250th anniversary in 2026, Hartford
Business Journal invited leaders from across Connecticut's business
community to reflect on the nation's legacy of enterprise, innovation
and opportunity.
e result is "America at 250: Letters from Connecticut's Business Leaders," a collection
of perspectives from executives representing a wide range of industries and organizations.
In the following pages, these leaders share their thoughts on the values, institutions
and economic system that have helped shape their companies and careers, while
also looking ahead to the opportunities and challenges facing the next generation of
American businesses.
eir reflections come at a pivotal moment. Connecticut companies are navigating
rapid technological change, evolving workforce dynamics, shifting global markets and
increasing competition.
Yet the themes that emerge throughout these letters — entrepreneurship, resilience,
innovation and optimism — are deeply connected to the principles that have helped
drive American economic growth for 250 years.
We thank each contributor for sharing their perspective and helping commemorate
this historic milestone. Together, their voices offer a snapshot of Connecticut's business
community and its vision for the future of both the state and the nation.
