X I I I ยง 2 CORPORATE CHAMPION OF THE YEAR: A bank that is also a Certified B Corp B y P e t e r V a n A l l e n As one of the few Certified B Corp banks in the coun- try, Androscoggin Bank demonstrates a deeply embed- ded commitment to community impact through both financial investment and employee engagement. Its volunteer program stands out by offering full-time employees 24 hours of paid volunteer time annually, resulting in 1.35% of total work hours dedi- cated to service. Over the past five years, employees have vol- unteered with more than 150 projects, contributed 5,824 hours across 179 nonprofits and supported an estimated 40,000 individuals. Signature initiatives include the annual Greater Giving Days and partnerships with seven Empowerment Partner โ€” Safe Voices, Trinity Jubilee Center, Maine Inside Out, In Her Presence, Tree Street Youth, New Beginnings and ProsperityME. In 2025 alone, the bank contributed more than $435,000 in funding including contributions, scholarships and grants, or $638,000 when includ- ing volunteer time. e impact of Androscoggin Bank's community efforts is a direct result of an organizational culture dedicated to leaving a positive impact. Its efforts drove a 29% increase in its B Lab "impact score" โ€” well above industry averages โ€” highlighting a model of purpose-driven corporate leadership. About Androscoggin Bank Androscoggin Bank, which is based in Lewiston, has branch offices in Auburn, Brunswick, Gray, Jay, Lewiston, Lisbon Falls, Portland, South Paris and Turner. It has a business office in Guilford, a commercial banking office in Portland and a loan- production office Portsmouth, N.H. Androscoggin Bank ranked No. 11 among the largest Maine-based banks in the Mainebiz 2026 Book of Lists, based on assets of $1.76 billion. e bank is led by CEO Neil Kiely. In May, Androscoggin Bank and New Hampshire- based Mascoma Bank, which has a Portland office, announced plans to combine their parent com- panies. e result will be a single mutual holding company, to be called ClearNorth Financial Mutual Holding Co. e two parties stressed that "the partnership is not an acquisition," and each bank will continue to operate under its own name, brand, charter and board of directors. Recognizing the efforts of nonprofits in Maine Here are the inaugural Mainebiz Community Impact Award honorees. The program was born from the idea of celebrating the people and nonprofits that transform our communities as well as the businesses that support them.
