In this issue Our cover story looks at Lewiston's updated MILL Museum, which reopens in new space this summer, captures the energy and intensity of the city's textile mills. e former Camden Yarns mill dates to 1864 — a year when Maine textile mills were called on to produce fabric for Civil War uniforms and cotton duck canvas for Union tents. But conveying that history for a present-day audience took some ingenuity, Senior Writer Laurie Schreiber writes. "It is not a big museum," notes the museum's architect. "We had to face the fact that this com- munity did not have the budget of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, so we had to carefully choose our 'wow' moments." Elsewhere in the issue, the Sunday River ski resort is making a push into year-round activities to keep the mountain active in warmer months. A decade ago, just 84 resorts had summer offer- ings; today, the number is closer to 110, with summer revenue increasing from $3.8 million to $6.4 million, according to the National Ski Areas Association. As Tina Fischer reports, golf, hiking and a wife-carrying competition are just part of the summer offerings.
