The U.S. Navy awarded Bath Iron Works the contract to build the next DDG-51 Arleigh Burke-class destroyer. The new ship, the DDG-149, will be named after retired Navy Hospital Corpsman Third Class Robert R. Ingram — a Vietnam War veteran and recipient of the Medal of Honor. The Maine Technology Institute awarded MaineHealth $2 million to cre- ate the state's first Clinical Research Unit, a dedicated space for both early- and late-phase clinical trials. The unit will be located at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Biddeford. Tucker Chevy to open Wiscasset After 10 years on Atlantic Highway in Waldoboro, Tucker Chevy is develop- ing a new showroom and service cen- ter in Wiscasset, at 777 Bath Road/ U.S. Route 1. Augusta-based Lajoie Brothers Construction broke ground last August, and dealership owner Tucker Cianchette told Mainebiz he expects to open the new facility in July. e new showroom will occupy 5,000 square feet, and will partner with an additional 20,000-square- foot covered outdoor inventory area, which Cianchette said is designed to provide a comfortable shopping expe- rience, regardless of Maine's unpre- dictable weather. KidsPeace, a national nonprofit that provides mental and behavioral health services to children and young people with locations in Maine, announced that it entered into an affiliation agreement with Inperium Inc., a national nonprofit that supports nonprofits and mission- aligned enterprises through a shared constellation of services, expertise and capital — while preserving mission, identity and operational independence. Lewiston's Maine MILL museum to open in late June A Lewiston museum that aims to be a hub for "history, culture and community connection" will open in late June after a $15 million capital campaign. Maine MILL — founded 30 years ago and pre- viously known as the Maine Museum of Innovation, Learning and Labor. e museum's new 22,000-square-foot museum space was designed by Platz Associates of Auburn and constructed by Langford & Low of Portland. Its new space will feature a display of criti- cal historical items not previously on view and expand the museum's capacity to present both its permanent collection and temporary exhibitions.
