Shannon Cavallo has been named chief financial officer of BL Companies, a Meriden-based architecture, engi- neering, environmental and land surveying services firm. Cavallo was most recently CFO at Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut. She previously spent about 10 years at Webster Bank as senior director and head of data analytics and technology enablement, working on data systems and business strategy. In her new role, she will oversee financial operations and strategy. She holds a bachelor's degree and an MBA in finance from the University of Connecticut. Tim Pivirotto has been named director of Riverside Magnet School at Goodwin Univer- sity Magnet School System, an East Hart- ford-based network of magnet schools serving pre-K through high school students. Pivirotto currently serves as assistant director at Connecticut River Academy Middle Grades, where he has worked on school operations, student outcomes and discipline practices. He will assume the director role on July 1. Pivirotto holds a master of teaching and an education leadership certificate from Sacred Heart University, and a bachelor's degree in English literature from High Point University. Arthur "Art" T. Corey, Mark L. Barry and Stephanie Carroll have been promoted at the Connecticut Bankers Association. Corey has been promoted to executive vice president. He joined the organization in 2019 and oversees government relations and legal affairs, including state and federal policy matters. Barry has been promoted to senior vice president. He joined the association in 2023 as chief operating officer and treasurer, overseeing finance, marketing and commu- nications, daily opera- tions and its for-profit business activities. Carroll has been promoted to comptroller and member services manager. She joined the association in 2021 and manages accounting, budgeting, compliance and financial reporting, along with member- ship administration. Christine DiBella has joined New Brit- ain-based accounting, tax and advisory services firm Mugford and DiBella LLC as director of operations. DiBella brings more than 15 years of experience in process engineering and operations. She most recently worked as a process engineer, leading initiatives focused on efficiency and cost reduction. In her new role, she will oversee day-to-day operations and lead process improvement efforts. She holds a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification. Michael D. Nicastro has been appointed the American Savings Foun- dation Endowed Chair in Banking & Finance at Central Connecticut State University. Nicastro is an associate professor of management and organization and entre- preneur-in-residence at Central. He will also lead the university's Banking Excellence Certificate program. He previously served as CEO of fintech firm Continuity and held executive roles at Open Solutions Inc. and COCC. Nicastro holds a bache- lor's degree from Central Connecticut State University and a law degree from Western New England University. Joe Soper has been named vice president of sports and entertainment at Mohegan, which owns and operates casino and entertainment resorts in Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Canada. Soper returns to Mohegan after serving since 2019 as corre- sponding secretary on the Mohegan Tribal Council. He previously spent about 15 years at Mohegan Sun, including roles as senior financial analyst and director of sports and entertainment. In his new role, he will oversee enter- tainment strategy and programming at Mohegan Sun and work across the company's broader portfolio. Soper holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Western New England University. Tom Webster has joined Arthur G. Russell Co. Inc. as a technical sales expert, supporting customers in several Midwest and southern states. The Bristol-based company designs and builds automated assembly systems for manufacturers. Webster brings experi- ence in automation and robotics sales, working with equipment manufacturers, distributors and system integrators. He previously held roles with Universal Robots, Mitsubishi Electric Automation, ATI Motors and Automation Solutions Inc., where he focused on sales, account management and devel- oping automation projects. In his new role, Webster will work with customers to plan and implement automation systems.
