CAROLYN STIMPSON • When I first met Dr. Charles Steinberg of the Worcester Red Sox, we instantly bonded over our mutual philosophy of: one skier/guest (WooSox fan) at a time. This is why I spend hours in the rental shop where all our new skiers begin their experience at Wachusett. I get to learn about them one-on-one while making their day more fun, comfortable and less intimidating. • Our family bonded over skiing and as a family business, there is nothing more important than family outdoor recreation, Wachusett provides the perfect opportunity to bring families together to enjoy year-round, active fun together. JEFF CROWLEY Treat the customer better than the competition and treat them like you'd want to be treated. Go out of your way to make everyone's day a little bit better. Be understanding and react if someone has an issue with a ticket purchase or any sort of problem. Go out of your way to turn a negative experience into a positive one. Get to know the customers, survey them, talk to them. Take care of the most demanding customer. If you can make him/ her happy by improving a process everyone else would be that much happier. Maintain your sense of humor while you're at work. There are a lot of people that have their first jobs here so make it fun for them. Also teach them proper skills and let them develop good work habits. One of the fun things we do is we have an end of the season party and give thousands of dollars' worth of prizes in a free Basket auction format. Hire and train great people. We're lucky that we have a good culture here. We work hard to maintain it. I had a customer come up to me a month ago and asked if I was one of the family members and he said that he's worked with a lot of different companies, He said we are one of the best cultures that he's ever seen. We have an incredible staff at all levels. Our goal is to have folks look forward to coming to work each day. Give the frontline staff the tools that they need to do the job properly. Spending money on equipment to make it easier for all departments from snowmaking, rental shop, and food and beverage. We feel it's important to provide state-of-the-art equipment for them to do a great job. We need to make sure that we take care of this incredible natural resource in the State Park. We're responsible to make sure that we take good care of this amazing gem of a mountain. There's a lot of recreational history here and we need to continue the tradition. It's critical to protect the resource while allowing people to recreate in a responsible manner. We endeavor to help folks with their physical and mental health by enjoying the alpine environment.
