Yale New Haven Health System has named Arnim Dontes its chief finan- cial officer, effective April 1. Dontes previously served as deputy dean for finance and administration at the Yale School of Medi- cine, where he oversaw a $3 billion operating budget and administra- tive functions including finance, human resources and capital planning. He previously held senior lead- ership roles at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Dontes holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois Urba- na-Champaign and an MBA from the University of Illinois Chicago. Ridgefield-based artificial intelli- gence firm r4 Federal has named Vice Admiral Trey Whitworth, U.S. Navy (Ret.), president of national security. Whitworth will lead the company's efforts supporting defense and intel- ligence community partners, with a focus on artificial intelli- gence, predictive analytics and operational decision-making. He most recently served as director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, one of the U.S. intelligence community's largest agencies, before retiring from the Navy. Whitworth brings more than 36 years of national security leadership experience. Weston & Sampson has hired Greg Dorosh as director of transportation in its Rocky Hill office. Dorosh brings more than 35 years of trans- portation experience in the public and private sectors, including more than 28 years with the Connecticut Department of Transportation. At CTDOT, he served as division chief of both highway design and facilities and transit. He holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of New Haven and is a licensed professional engineer in Connecticut. Danbury-based Union Savings Bank has elected Dr. John M. Murphy chairman of its board of trustees. Murphy, former president and CEO of Nuvance Health, succeeds Lucie Voves, who is retiring as chair but will remain on the board. Murphy has been affiliated with the bank since 2003, when he joined as a corporator, and later served as a trustee and chaired several board committees. He led Nuvance Health from 2010 until retiring in 2025, and previously served as executive vice president of Danbury Health Systems. Meriden-based BL Companies has promoted three employee-owners to principal. The employee-owned architecture, engi- neering, environmental and land-surveying firm named Greg Holtzman, a registered landscape architect, and Timothy Houle, a professional engineer, as principals in its land development engineering group. Charles Packer, a professional engineer, was also promoted to principal in the firm's transportation engineering group. New Britain-based Hospital for Special Care has appointed R. Moses Vargas as chief legal officer and vice president of government affairs. Vargas will oversee legal affairs, regulatory compliance and government relations for the specialty hospital and its affil- iates. He previously served as senior vice president and chief legal officer at Connecticut Children's Medical Center. Earlier in his career, Vargas worked as a health care transactional and regulatory attorney at Robinson+Cole. He holds bachelor's, master's in social work and MBA degrees from the University of Utah, and a law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law. United Way of Central and North- eastern Connecticut has named Irene Bassock chair of its board of directors. Bassock is a partner at Cohen & Buckmann PC and has more than 30 years of experience in employ- ment and executive compensation law. She has volunteered with United Way since 2016 and has been involved with the organization's Women United and Women of Tocqueville groups. The organization also appointed new board members: Tom Barnes, chairman of the Barnes Aerospace Foundation; Hank Guerrero, president and general manager of NBC and Tele- mundo Connecticut; Brian Zelman, principal at Zelman Real Estate; Laura Zucker, senior manager at Accen- ture; and Austin Provost, partner at Robinson & Cole.
