2026 CHARITY EVENT GUIDE • HARTFORD BUSINESS JOURNAL 3 U nited Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut's mission is to mobilize resources to end poverty in the 860 region. Our work is centered in initiatives that close gaps in child literacy, wages, housing and life expectancy so everyone succeeds in our communities. To sustain and advance our organization's Onward860 strategic plan, signature events are one key way United Way raises awareness about issues impacting people in our region, leverages resources to create impact, and connects people with opportunities to give back, as we set forth together toward a better future. You are invited to be part of ending poverty in the 860 region. United Way's events are instrumental to fulfilling our collective community goals, and are a clear reflection of the work we do and the causes we stand for: • Read Across America Day on March, 5 2026 engages volunteers with the experience of reading the same book aloud in classrooms across our region, and advances our work in closing gaps in child literacy. • THE Commercial Real Estate and Building Industry's 6th Annual Breakfast: Building Foundations takes place April 30, 2026. This is the event of the year for the commercial real estate and building industry, and offers attendees the opportunity to build strong relationships through networking while raising awareness and funds that reduce and prevent homelessness in Greater Hartford. • United Way's 52nd Anniversary Golf Tournament on May 12, 2026 celebrates and reinforces the new strategic alliance between United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut and United Way of West Central. The tournament exemplifies how together, we are increasing the impact, reach and sustainability of our shared mission. • United Way Women United's 15th Anniversary Power of the Purse and Silent Auction returns June 11, 2026, and creates opportunities for local women and families to achieve financial security. Join 1,000 area champions committed to philanthropy, empowerment and inspiration.
