Laura Reading, director of afford- able housing for the Developers Collaborative in Portland, received the "Kenneth M. Curtis Leadership Award" from Maine Development Foundation. Gawron Turgeon Dillon Architects PC in Scarborough said it received the "2025 IIDA Healthcare Design Award" in the Extended Care & Assisted Living Facilities category for its interior design at Madrona Grove in Rose Villa in Portland, Ore. The city of Portland announced its Annual Business Awards winners including: "Economic Development Achievement," Redfern Properties; "Business of the Year," SMRT; "Small Business of the Year," Factory 3; "PDC Client of the Year," Matcha Mood; and "Legacy Award," David Wood Clothiers. MaineHousing's Affordable Homeownership Program was recognized for "Homeownership: Encouraging New Construction" during the National Council of State Housing Agencies' annual conference in New Orleans. e program utilized $20 million in state funding to subsidize the construction of 276 homes being made available for purchase at prices affordable to middle-income households. Verrill, a law firm in Portland, announced that 15 of its Maine- based lawyers were recognized in the 2025 edition of New England Super Lawyers. Eleven were named "Super Lawyers" while four oth- ers were listed as "Rising Stars." e firm also said that attorneys Martha Gaythwaite, Hans Eysenbach and Jennifer Novo were recognized for their outstanding contributions at the "2025 Katahdin Counsel Recognition Ceremony." e Princeton Review named College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor the No. 1 "Green College" in its Guide to Green Colleges. e recognition marks the 10 th consecutive year the college has earned the top spot. AARP Maine announced Linda Dougherty as the winner of the "2025 Andrus Award," named in honor of AARP's founder Ethel Percy Andrus. e award honors those who make a difference in the lives of others. Dougherty is the lead volunteer for many of the organization's pro- grams in Greater Bangor. Words From the Woods, an advertising agency in Portland, said Luke Behrends, co-founder and chief creative officer, earned a spot on Indie Agency News' 2025 "Top 40: Weirdos, Misfits and Underdogs" list. Saddleback Mountain in Rangeley was named the No. 1 "Ski Resort in the East for 2025," according to SKI Magazine's annual reader survey. Knickerbocker Group, a design-build firm in Portland, said it was hon- ored with a "Merit Award for Excellence in Architecture" at the 2025 New England Architecture Awards for the Honeymoon Cottage and was named as a "2025 Emerging Professional Friendly Firm." Drummond Woodsum, a law firm in Portland, announced that nine of its attorneys were recognized in the 2026 edition of Benchmark Litigation, a guide that identifies the nation's top litigation attorneys and law firms. Eight were named "Litigation Stars" while another was named a "Future Star."
