NE OF MY FAVORITE MOMENTS when my hus-
band, DJ, and I wed was our private vows under the
tree where we had our first kiss. As someone sentimen-
tal, I appreciate making memories. So, when my hus-
band and I decided to have our first look after our private wedding
vows, I knew I had to make it special.
The fall breeze was perfect, and we welled up as we spoke our
private vows, not looking at each other yet. Then my husband
reached out and sweetly grabbed my hand, or in this case, my blue
flipper, because I was wearing an inflatable shark costume!
What started as a joke when my Maid of Honor mentioned hav-
ing an inflatable shark costume in her car turned into one of the
most memorable moments of our wedding.
Instead of my gorgeous wedding dress, DJ turned around and
saw me in the oversized shark costume, which I could barely see
out of. He swore in shock, and we just lost it. We laughed and
laughed until it hurt, and that moment set the tone for our fun and
