For intimate ceremonies, the Medieval Chapter
House at Worcester Art Museum on Salisbury
Street is a truly one-of-a–kind venue with vaulted
stone ceilings, stained glass, and glowing flameless
candles.
The main space,
Renaissance Hall,
accommodates larger
celebrations. The
architecture of the
century-old building
creates a unique ambiance,
with an expansive balcony
overlooking a vast court.
A 12th-century building once used by Benedictine monks that was shipped,
stone by stone, from France, serves as a cozy and acoustically pleasing space for a
small ceremony, especially when lit with flameless candles and lanterns. "The room
itself is like walking into Europe," says Julie Russell, the museum's event specialist.
She said it's common for couples to plan small weddings, with wintertime being a
particularly fitting season for ambient wedding ceremonies here.
The Worcester Art Museum's main space, known as Renaissance Hall, is
a distinctive location that can be decked out with floral arrangements and
accommodate larger celebrations. The architecture of the building itself creates a
unique ambiance, with an expansive balcony overlooking a vast court. The museum
can hold both a ceremony and a reception, and wedding guests also have access to
the art galleries. n
