NOTABLE Women IN CONSTRUCTION HARTFORDBUSINESS.COM | NOVEMBER 3, 2025 B7 L indsey Fortunato President and CEO FORTUNATO CONSTRUCTION GROUP L indsey Fortunato, AIA, is the President and CEO of For- tunato Construction Group. As a licensed architect with design and project management experience, Lindsey brings a unique perspective to her leadership of the firm, promoting collaboration across disciplines and elevating client experiences in the mid-market construction space. At FCG, relationship building and management is at the heart of Lindsey's work. She's shepherding the company into its next chapter while championing a culture that values rela- tionships, community impact and adaptability in a rapidly evolving industry. What inspired you to pursue a career in construction, and how did you get started? I grew up in it. My father founded the company and I grew up in an environment where the firm was part of the family. When I was a kid, he would roll out drawings on the kitchen table and I found it fascinating to see operational decisions of a function- ing space depicted in two dimensions with lines on paper. I studied architecture and became a licensed architect before joining the firm and growing FCG's design-build capabilities. How do you mentor or support other women entering the construction industry? I think this is about being visible, showing others that real women can succeed in this industry. It's in more significant ways, like creating an annual scholarship for a graduating highschool senior entering the industry, participating in we- binars and panel discussions, and representing the industry at career fairs. It's also in meeting another woman for a cup of coffee to discuss her career trajectory and offer guidance, in hiring someone who will thrive if she can just be given a voice, NOTABLE Women IN CONSTRUCTION and in standing up and making tough calls when she needs your support on the jobsite. What challenges have you faced as a woman in the construction industry, and how have you overcome them? All along the way there have been sexist and foolish comments, dou- ble standards and setbacks. Most people aren't prepared to see a pe- tite, young woman leading a general contracting company. I've always seen those doubts as an opportunity to prove myself, and an opportu- nity to open someone's mind. There's still so much work to be done in this area, but the impact of women in the industry over the last de- cade alone has been significant and it continues to grow each day. Fortunato Construction Group is a central Connecticut based general contractor and construction manager specializing in private sector development of commercial, medical and institutional work. With new construction, interior improvements, and major renovation work throughout the northeast, the firm has earned a highly respected reputation throughout the industry for exemplary services. 99 Old Brickyard Lane #10, Kensington, CT 06037 (860) 829-1411 fortunatoconstruction.com
