Bangor YMCA breaks ground e Bangor Region YMCA has officially broken ground on its $57.8 million facility, which is slated to open in August 2027. Of the overall cost, $43.5 million has been raised, both in a quiet phase and in a public campaign, which kicked off in February. e city of Bangor allocated $2 million to the project and Penobscot County used $3 million from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 to support the effort. e Y also qualified for $10 million in New Market Tax Credits by meeting certain requirements, including its location in an underprivileged area of the commu- nity. e new Bangor Region YMCA will be a three-story, 82,000-square-foot facility that will include a gymnasium, two swimming pools and extensive pro- gramming for all ages. Katahdin Bankshares posts Q3 earnings Katahdin Bankshares Corp., the parent company of Katahdin Trust Co., posted third-quarter earnings of $2.65 million, or 84 cents per common share. e results represent an increase of $135,000 or 5.3% over the previous quarter, and a 17.4% increase over the third quarter of 2024. Total assets reached $1.09 bil- lion, up $41 million from the same period last year. LaunchPad awards $50K to PFAS lab Katie Richards, CEO of Norridgewock- based Maine Laboratories, a lab that does testing for the presence of PFAS, or so-called forever chemicals, won the top prize in Maine Community Bank's LaunchPad pitch competi- tion. e $50,000 in prize money will fund automated equipment, freeing the team to focus on research, white papers and advanced testing meth- ods. e Emerging Business Award went to Freeport-based Dirigo Sea Farm, which is led by founder Alexa Coulombe McGovern and produces kelp-based bioplastics. Loring LiquidCool Data Center LLC and Green 4 Maine LLC, a clean energy and regional redevelopment firm, announced a partnership and launch of Maine's first AI data cen- ter on the Green 4 Maine Campus and Innovation Hub at Loring at the former Loring Air Force Base in Aroostook County. The Loring AI Data Center will be designed around IT hardware furnished by LiquidCool Solutions, a leading innovator in high-efficiency data infrastructure and its patented im- mersion cooling technology.
