Whether it comes to naming a personal hero or invitations for a dream dinner party, grand- parents, especially, are top of mind for this year's honorees. (See more about this in the introduc- tion to the profiles.) An interesting insight into the honorees' personalities was their so-called lightbulb moment — which is included in the profiles that start on Page 10. A lightbulb moment could be a simple thing. One honoree said her revelation came when she learned how to delegate. Giving back was a key theme, whether at work, personally or in volunteering. An honoree said having experienced struggles that were out of her control helped create empathy for others going through hard times. Another cited the "profound effect that community support can have" on survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. And one honoree said his "aha moment" came while tutoring a young student, seeing inspi- ration in an everyday event. e workplace can help lead to insights. "I realized I didn't need to leave Maine to have a big career or make an impact," said one honoree. Another said: "I learned that I didn't have to work in a place that doesn't align with my values." e 40 Under 40 profiles offer interesting insights into this year's honorees.
