FUNDRAISING EVENTS/ OPPORTUNITIES Sunbeam Award Gala – Taking place each August in Bar Harbor, our signature fun- draising event honors organizations and individuals making a positive impact in our communities. Past recipients include artist and author Ashley Bryan, Mount Desert Island Hospital, Sunrise County Economic Council, Maine Community Foundation, Rossi Foundation, Maine CDC, Acadia Senior College, Island Institute, Ruth and Tristram Colket, Former Maine State Sen. Hon. Jill M. Goldthwait, Earl Bechlin and Alan Baker, and Sigma Kappa. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES The Mission Fund – Gifts and grants provide operating or project support for mission programs. The Hope Society – Including the Mission in estate plans provides critical support and hope for generations to come. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Mount Deser t Island – Historical archives, Sunbeam and islands, events, and Christmas Program. SERVICE LOCATIONS The Mission delivers services across a 9,500 square-mile area that includes Maine's unbridged islands and Washington County, which combined more than 90,000 Mainers call home.
