"The value of this program to the community resides in its irreplaceability. It is more than just classes, to many it is a support system where parents are able to speak about hard subjects in raising children without judgment." Maine Prevention Council Parent Participant Maine Children's Trust is the only statewide organization that works to strengthen families, promote healthy relationships, and support communities to prevent child abuse and neglect. Through proven prevention programs and approaches, the Trust provides critical supports for communities, providers, caregivers, and children across Maine. We believe by supporting all Maine families in their communities, children are nurtured. The Trust focuses on education, public awareness, and initiatives that strengthen parents' ability to care for their children. We also support the professionals who work daily with families, helping to shape better outcomes before maltreatment occurs. By equipping them with cutting-edge practices and resources, we ensure families receive the best possible support from those who serve them. ABOUT US OUR PROGRAMS These are just a few of our programs and initiatives: Maine Families Home Visiting program is offered to all families who are expecting or have a new baby at home. Maine Families' certified Family Visitors can provide information, encouragement, and support around topics that matter to you regarding health, nutrition, safety, development, and your family's well-being. Best of all, they will meet at the family's home at their convenience and at no cost to them! Maine Prevention Councils are a network of programs in every county that works to support and strengthen families. Prevention Councils offer a wide range of support for families and parents such as evidence-based parenting education, support groups, events, and activities. All support services are free! The Front Porch Project® is a community initiative based on the belief that everyone can - and should - become more aware of how to help support children and families in their community. In the workshop, you will explore how to build relationships by connecting with others in times of need or stress, foster the idea that it's okay to ask for and receive help in stressful times, learn how to be most helpful to other caregivers without causing harm, and empower yourself to feel confident in offering support. www.mechildrenstrust.org
