Beginning his career with the company as a laborer in 2018, Lucas has steadily advanced through multiple roles. Culminating in his current leadership position where he oversees operations, project management, estimating, and strategic growth initiatives. Under his operational leadership, Mattern Construction has doubled its workforce and secured more than $27 million in project revenue. Lucas has played a key role in enhancing client relationships, elevating customer experience, and driving the company's long-term, sustainable growth. Beyond his professional role, Lucas is deeply committed to community service. He is proud to be leading a complete rebuild of a home for a local family who tragically lost their house and their 7-year-old daughter in the devastating fire. Since starting as a laborer in 2018, Girard has ascended through the ranks, now leading company operations — over- seeing project management, estimating and strategic growth. With his assistance, the firm has dou- bled its workforce and secured more than $27 million in project revenue, all Andrea Gomes is a partner in Hinckley Allen's Real Estate Group, specializing in land use, environmental and munic- ipal law. She represents developers and property owners, guiding projects from conception through permitting and litigation. Her work includes securing approvals for commercial and institutional devel- opments, multifamily communities and healthcare facilities. Gomes also handles a variety of while strengthening client relation- ships, improving customer experience and ensuring sustainable, long-term development. What's been your biggest professional accomplishment so far in your career? My proudest professional accomplish- ment is guiding Mattern Construction Inc. through a period of expansion, doubling staff and delivering over $27 million in project revenue. We are con- tinuing to grow and improve customer experience every day. How are you involved in the community? I'm proud to lead the complete rebuild of a home for a family that tragically lost their house and seven-year-old daughter in a fire. In addition, I serve as the fire captain and volunteer EMT in my town, providing emergency response and department training. Why do you deserve to be a 40 Under Forty? • Rose from laborer to executive lead- ership in five years, now overseeing all operations for a firm with 40-plus employees. • Directly involved in acquiring more than $27 million in revenue-generating proj- ects and helped double company size through strategic growth initiatives. • Demonstrates deep civic engage- ment, both within the organization and in the local community. land-use litigation matters, including public bidding disputes, eminent domain actions and Freedom of Information Act issues. What's been your biggest professional accomplishment so far in your career? Navigating my work as an attorney in private practice while also being an actively involved wife and mother of two. I have developed a reputation for excellence in land use, particularly in the housing space, and am proud to have achieved a balance between my professional life and family. How are you involved in the community? I serve as a commissioner on the West Hartford Town Plan & Zoning Commission/Inland Wetlands and Watercourse Agency. I am also on the National Association of Homebuilders' Legal Action Committee, which recom - mends financial assistance for legal cases nationwide that are of national significance to the housing industry.
