W hen it comes to the operations of modern-day government, it's about more than connecting residents and businesses to state and local ser- vices. It's also about forging connections across agencies and departments so that everyone has a more seamless, positive government experience. Yet when there are hundreds of govern- ment departments and agencies, it can be difficult to streamline resources and service delivery in a way that serves everyone. So, in a quickly evolving, technolo- gy-dependent world, how can state and local governments continue to foster resident engagement and interagency collaboration without sacrificing pro- ductivity or affordability? It helps to collaborate with the right partner to implement real solutions. Choosing the right partner Maine has long strived to build a stronger and more connected digital government ecosystem to better serve its residents. Since 1999, Tyler Technologies has been a strategic partner in helping Maine achieve this goal. As the largest software company solely focused on the public sector, Tyler equips communities with technology that connects data, people, and processes across departments and geographic boundaries. From payment processing and disbursements to agency portals and mobile apps, Tyler's extensive suite of proven platforms and real solutions is exclusively built for the public sector and configurable to meet each govern- ment's unique needs. For state government, this means digital systems that work together, in- creased collaboration among government agencies, more frequent engagement between residents and the state, and a significant boost in cost savings. Connecting Maine Currently, Tyler's Augusta-based team partners with nearly 600 government entities across Maine to optimize access to services and boost resident engage- ment through connected technology. Here are two examples: Launching and growing Maine.gov. Since its launch in 1999, Maine. gov has become the primary way for residents and business owners to obtain information, complete forms, and interact with Maine government digitally. Today, Maine's digital govern- ment initiative has grown to more than 200 unique online services that span nearly every state agency, offering new sites, services, and enterprise tools each year that enhance interactions between government and residents. Developing an end-to-end campsite reservations solution. With Tyler's campground reservations software, Mainers can make and manage camp- site reservations across Maine's twelve state parks as well as purchase per- mits. Meanwhile, park rangers and administrators can view incoming campers and keep track of available sites. The platform processes more than 300 transactions per minute and facilitates tens of thousands of reservations annually. Connected government means connected communities Maine isn't the only state seeing this success through strategic partnership with Tyler. Success has also been seen in New Jersey, where the Department of Environ- mental Protection (DEP) implemented Tyler's AI-powered Augmented Field Operations (AFO) solution to trans- form the monitoring, compliance, and enforcement of fieldwork. Since im- plementation, the AFO mobile inspec- tion application has helped seven DEP inspectors conduct more than 9,500 in-person inspections annually, reducing inspection time from two to three hours to just a few minutes. Meanwhile, a Wisconsin County Parks and Recreation Department enhanced their traditional line-item budgeting model with Tyler's AI-powered Priority Based Budgeting solution. By shift- ing a range of programs to fee-based models and implementing cost-sharing approaches, the department was able to maintain service levels and render its programs 100% self-sustaining, which allowed the county to reallocate general fund resources to other priorities. More can be done — together Government can be more streamlined — and residents are equipped to have a more positive government experience — when digital government systems are built to talk to each other. Empowering states across the coun- try to meet the needs of their com- munities requires a combination of deep expertise, a proven track record of improving the resident experience, and a broad portfolio of seamless and intuitive solutions that work. When it comes to connected states for connected communities, Tyler is the one partner who can do it all.
