Brenda Maher has
been named president
of Berkshire Hathaway
HomeServices New
England and New York
Properties, covering
Connecticut, Rhode
Island and New York's Westchester
County and Hudson Valley.
Maher, who joined the Berkshire
Hathaway HomeServices family in
2010, served most recently as senior
vice president/general manager of
brokerage for the New England and
New York offices.
She is replacing Candace Adams,
who will continue as chairwoman of
the brokerage, along with her new
role as executive vice president for
HomeServices of America.
Glastonbury integrated commu-
nications firm CashmanKatz has
hired Monika Russo as its new
media director.
In her role, Russo will oversee all
media strategy, planning, execution
and buying for the agency. She will
also lead efforts in developing and
implementing comprehensive media
strategies and plans for CK's diverse
client roster.
Before joining
CashmanKatz, Russo
spent a decade at
Keiler & Company in
Farmington, where
she served as a media
planner/buyer.
New Britain medical-components
manufacturer AVNA Inc. has hired
Robert "Chip" Harvill
as a senior business
development executive.
In this role, Harvill
will lead efforts to
cultivate new part-
nerships and busi-
ness opportunities across AVNA's
growing portfolio of medical device
manufacturing capabilities.
He most recently worked in a
similar position at Millstone Medical
in Massachusetts.
Benjamin Hitzfeld has been
appointed assistant branch
manager at Westfield Bank's
Bloomfield location.
He will assist in managing all areas
of the branch, including customer
service, retail and business product
sales, employee
development and
general operations.
Hitzfeld, a former
educator, joined West-
field Bank three years
ago as a teller and was
promoted to head teller
before advancing into his new role.
Sabrina Selk, an expert in health
equity, public health and commu-
nity engagement, has joined the
Connecticut Health Foundation as the
director of policy.
Selk joins the foundation from the
National Network of Public Health
Institutes, where she served as
director of health and racial equity.
She previously served as director
of the Office of Health Equity in
the Massachusetts Department of
Public Health.
As the director of policy, Selk
will oversee the foundation's policy
agenda, working with grantees,
policymakers and other partners to
advance health equity through policy
development and implementation.
Thomaston Savings Bank has
hired Lee Fernandez
as vice president,
senior commercial
loan officer.
Fernandez joins the
bank with over 20 years
of experience serving
clients in various capacities.
Most recently, he was vice president
of commercial real estate at The Wash-
ington Trust Co. He also previously
worked at Ion Bank and TD Bank.
Law firm Carmody Torrance
Sandak & Hennessey LLP has hired
Joan M. Tsang as an associate in the
firm's litigation practice
based in Guilford.
Tsang, who previ-
ously worked at law
firm Halloran Sage, has
experience advising
clients on civil litiga-
tion matters, specifically on medical
malpractice defense as well as
defense of general liability matters,
including auto and premises liability.
She also has experience in
defending workers' compensation
claims. Tsang earned her law degree
from the University of Connecticut
School of Law.
