2025 BUSINE SS PROFILE S | HARTFORD BUSINE SS JOURNAL 9 In addition to direct care services, CCSN provides consultation to school districts to help address the educational needs of students with complex learning profiles. "We see districts find that such consulta- tion is cost-effective in reducing what can be expensive outplacement costs, while allow- ing students to remain in their communities and with their peers," said Dr. Mark Palm- ieri, Co-Executive Director. With over 200 employees working collab- oratively to serve clients and families, CCSN has focused on creating a workspace that is a career-destination for those in the field. "We say genuinely that every person we hire we hope will ultimately retire from CCSN," Seth Powers said. "We know this means that we need to continue to offer pathways for profes- sional growth and development, and having the opportunity to support that growth is one of the most rewarding parts of leading this organization." As the organization looks ahead, CCSN will continue to build a community that em- phasizes core principles of diversity, equity and inclusion, ensuring that patients and staff know they are seen and valued for who they are. "Our tagline is 'Unique Needs, Unique Care–Celebrating Diversity and Advocating for Equity and Inclusion for All,' and it is an ethos that we live into every day," reflected Dr. Palmieri. "We are proud of our history, and we look forward to bringing our values and best-in-class clinical care to our com- munity for the next 30 years." 'As is almost always the case, it started out with a child' S ince its founding in 1994, CCSN: e Center for Children with Special Needs, has been bringing scientifically valid and evidence-based care to individuals with autism and related neurodevelopmental disabilities across the lifespan. Recog- nizing this need, over the past 30-plus years CCSN has expanded in Connecticut, with physical locations in Glastonbury and Farmington, as well as providing consul- tation and educational support throughout the region and internationally. "Since our founding, it has been a core value to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our patients, their families and their communities," said Dr. Michael Powers, the center's Found- er and Co-Executive Director. "What started primarily as a psychological practice providing evaluations and consultation has expanded into a multidisciplinary behavioral health organiza- tion providing extensive direct care services, as well as ongoing consultative support to school districts, government agencies and businesses." Today, CCSN provides center-based services such as treatment based on applied behavior analysis, occupational therapy, speech-language therapy, outpatient psychotherapy, and psycho- logical diagnostic and educational evaluations. CCSN began providing insurance-eligible direct treatment in 2017 and has seen substantial growth in this space. CCSN's multidisciplinary treatment model focuses on whole-person care. Understood now as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), the unique needs presented by each patient and their family require unique care plans based on the best science, tai- lored to meet the needs of each patient and family. More recently, CCSN launched early childhood centers, focusing on scientifically based and de- velopmentally appropriate early intervention for children with ASD that are generally 2-5 years old. "Seeing these clinics build and launch has been an enormous professional joy," shared Seth Powers, Co-Executive Director. "Developed and led by our multidisciplinary team of clinical directors, we are seeing tremendous outcomes and gains by our youngest patients."
