The new two- story facility will provide a variety of flexible spaces for employees engaged in team- based and individual work, and includes collaboration areas and huddle spaces along with traditional desk options. The goal is to support onsite and hybrid workers in an expanded and innova- tive office environment. Lounges, a café and conference rooms will be included. "As many employers consider how to leverage the flexibility of technology and the innovation that comes from in-person collaboration, flexible facilities like this offer a great solution,» said Matt Cooke, president and CEO of PC Construction. Design for the Martin's Point site is by Portland-based SMRT Architects and Engineers. Site work is being handled by Sebago Technics of South Portland. The project is targeted for completion in early 2027. CONSTRUCTION NEWS FROM AROUND THE STATE Zachau Construction Co. is currently building two housing projects, one in Boothbay for Boothbay Regional Development Corp. which will bring 162 units of middle-income housing to the Boothbay Peninsula. The first phase is 20 townhouse condominiums; future phases will include more condos, apartments and single-family homes. The condomini- ums will be modular construction from KBS Builders, based in South Paris and Oxford. The other Zachau project is Betsy Ross Crossing at 10 Preble St. in South Portland, being developed by the South Portland Housing Authority. The 52-unit affordable senior housing complex is a 45,000-square-foot expansion to the Betsy Ross House apartment building. CHA Consulting Inc. of Portland, is the architectural design team. Restoration Capital, of Sudbury, Mass., is developing and building the Enclave at South Portland, a 55-plus condomin- ium complex. The builder specializes in condo projects for older residents. This is the company's first develop- ment in Maine. The first two phases of the 34-unit, luxury development are under construction on an 18-acre par- cel behind 761 Main St./U.S. Route 1. Units range in size from 2,053 to 2,274 square feet, and prices start at $838,900. Penobscot General Contractors, based in Falmouth, has broken ground on Equality Commons, a 54-unit afford- able apartment building for seniors at 25 Casco St., in Portland. Developers Collaborative, which is headquartered in the city, is replacing a former parking lot with a five-story apartment building which will feature residences ranging in size from 501-square-foot efficiency units to 837-square-foot two-bedroom dwell- ings. Nineteen of the apartments will be accessible to residents with mobility issues. The complex is slated to open in the summer of 2026.
