A new study by Seniorly shows Maine is the No. 24 best state for older workers B y m a i n e b i z s t a f f A record 11.2 million seniors are still working, and 14.8 million seniors are projected to be in the workforce by 2033. As health care and living costs continue to rise, a growing number of seniors cannot afford to retire, while others opt to work, encouraged by better health, longevity and the flexibility of remote work, the website reported. How Maine stacks up Among the key findings, Maine has the country's lowest rate of age-related workplace discrimination (10 complaints per 100,000 eligible workers, No. 1), 17.4% of older employees working from home (No. 17) and 30.8% of seniors in the labor force (tied for 22nd). Seniorly studied data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Census Bureau and Federation of Tax Administrators. It looked at median income, income tax, remote work, labor force participation, business growth rate and age-related workplace discrimination. The 10 best states for older workers are: 1. Washington 2. New Hampshire 3. Alaska 4. Maryland 5. Colorado 6. Connecticut 7. Massachusetts 8. South Dakota 9. Utah 10. Vermont #1 #51
