Situated on 2.5 acres at 118 Maverick St. in Rockland, the 50,000-square-foot building includes 49 apartments, targeted for residents aged 55 and over. Laura Reading, director of affordable housing for Portland-based Developers Collaborative, told Mainebiz that pre-leasing has already attracted more than 100 applicants. Falmouth-based Penobscot General Contractors is building the $17.2 million project with a focus on energy efficiencies. SolarLogix is installing roof-mounted panels for electricity generation. Peasley Park is one of more than 20 affordable housing projects Developers Collaborative has brought online in Maine, with three more currently under construc- tion, including Rumford Senior Living at 101 Hancock St. in Rumford, and Sturgeon Landing at 18 Park St. in Augusta. The company also develops commercial properties and market-rate housing and repurposes historic buildings. It's currently engaged in two Portland developments, Stevens Square at Baxter Woods condo project on the site of the former Catherine Macauley School, and Rumery Lofts on Forest Avenue. CONSTRUCTION NEWS FROM AROUND THE STATE f Great Falls Construction, based in Gorham, is the general contractor for Maine Metal Buildings Inc.'s new 9,000-square-foot headquarters being built at 625 Main St. in Gorham. The company plans to occupy 3,000 square feet and lease the remaining space as four 1,500-square-foot commercial units. Ryan Senatore Architecture of Portland, is handling design, and BH2M of Gorham is the project's civil engineer. f Portland Builders Inc. is manag- ing the rehabilitation of the 50-year- old Harbor Terrace on Danfor th Street in Portland. The eight-story 112,000-square-foot building includes 120 income-restricted apartments. Portland Housing Development Corp. estimates that the renovation will reduce the energy consumption of the building by 30%, with a 26% reduc- tion of greenhouse gas emissions. Kitter y-based Adra Architecture and CWS Architecture and Interior Design, of Scarborough, have handled the design. The cost of the rehab is $28 million. f Paris-based KBS Construction will be providing modular buildings for a 40-unit condominium development at Rumford's Black Mountain ski resort. The units will feature TimberHP-insulated interi- ors for enhanced energy efficiency and soundproofing, heat pumps and high- end finishes. Kara Wilbur's Rumford- based Dooryard, will manage the build. The developer is Damariscotta's Red Hill Road LLC. Other firms involved are Bangor-based Haley Ward engineers and Principle architects, based in Bryant Pond and Boston. Construction will begin this coming June, and eight units will be ready for occupancy by January 2026.
