Swift has run The Hartford, a publicly traded property and casualty insurer that also provides group benefits and mutual funds, since 2014. Pastore founded and has led the Women's Business Development Council for nearly three decades. The organization provides various supports for women entre- preneurs and opened a new Hartford office last year. Nonprofit healthcare provider Charter Oak Health Center has named an industry veteran as its new president and CEO. Vernette Townsend was appointed as the group's leader effective Jan. 1. Townsend has more than 30 years of expe- rience in nursing and healthcare leadership. Most recently, she was the chief nursing officer at Charter Oak. The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has named the dean of UConn's Hartford campus and chief administrative officer, Mark Overmy- er-Velázquez, as chair of its volunteer board of directors. He succeeds Andrew Worthington, who recently finished a two-year term. Overmyer-Velázquez has served on the board since 2019 and was elected vice chair in 2023. In addition, the board elected Marlene Ibsen, vice president of community relations at Travelers Cos., and president and CEO of the Travelers Foundation, as its vice chair. Beatriz Gutierrez, president and CEO of manufacturing consulting firm CONNSTEP Inc., was elected treasurer. Law firm Shipman & Goodwin LLP announced the promotions of three attorneys as of Jan. 1. Jaime Welsh has been promoted to partner; Katilee Boisvert and Sarah Gleason have been elevated to counsel. Welsh's practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, as well as bankruptcy cases and insolvency proceedings. Appearing frequently in both state and federal court, she represents national and multinational companies in the finance, pharmaceutical, medical device and healthcare industries. Boisvert represents companies in corpo- rate and transactional law, including commer- cial financing and general corporate and commercial matters. A former elemen- tary school teacher, Gleason advises a wide range of educational institu- tions, including K-12 public and independent schools and colleges and universities, in legal issues related to students, employees, governance and policy. West Hartford law firm Gfeller Laurie LLP announced that real estate attorney Michael P. Boiczyk has joined the firm as counsel in the banking and commercial law practice group. Boiczyk was formerly a partner at Weber, Carrier, Boiczyk & Chace LLP in New Britain. He maintains a transactional practice, focusing on commer- cial real estate law and general business transactions, and represents landlords and tenants in connection with office, commercial, retail and industrial leases throughout Connecticut. Hartford-based energy consulting firm Titan Energy has expanded the roles of Kyle Ramm and Justin Kearney to managing directors. Both leaders will also continue to hold their current titles and responsibilities. Ramm, chief financial officer and vice president of operations, has been with Titan Energy for nearly seven years, and has been instrumental in driving financial strategy and optimizing and implementing processes across the organization, the firm said. Kearney, vice president of sales and market development, has nearly 18 years of experience at Titan Energy, and has played a key role in the firm's growth and evolution. He is the son of one of the company's founders. The board of directors of Hartford nonprofit Camp Courant has elected a new leadership slate going into 2025. Richard Brown, managing partner of Five Eight Holdings LLC and chief membership officer and director of coaching at the CT Real Estate Inves- tors Association, has been elected board chair. Josh Sylvester of Consigli Construction Inc., a former Camp Courant counselor and at-large board member for seven years, was elected the board's vice chair. Angelo Costantini of WM is trea- surer, and Liz Salvatore of FOX61 takes over as secretary.
