The Connecticut Business &
Industry Association has added
Grace Brangwynne and Jenna Grasso
to its lobbying team.
Prior to joining CBIA,
Brangwynne served
as a congressional
campaign manager to
U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney,
real estate lobbyist,
and gubernatorial
campaign staffer for
Gov. Ned Lamont.
Grasso worked in
the Connecticut House
of Representatives
as a GOP legislative
aide and public affairs
coordinator. She also led several
campaigns across Connecticut and
worked as a lobbying assistant at
New Haven government relations firm
DNB Lobby.
Brangwynne will focus on policy
related to housing, insurance,
planning, public health and human
services. Grasso will focus on issues
related to improving talent pipelines
and expanding access to affordable
child care, CBIA said.
Hartford nonprofit Hands On Hart-
ford has a new leader.
Janet Bermudez has taken over
as executive director following the
recent retirement
of longtime leader
Barbara A. Shaw.
Bermudez has
been deputy exec-
utive director since
November 2023,
when Shaw announced her plans
for retirement.
Bermudez has spent 17 years at
Hands On Hartford, which works to
increase food security, promotes
nutrition and health, and provides
homelessness and housing support
in the Capital City.
Waterbury-based Post Univer-
sity recently announced the
promotion of Jeanna Sinn to chief
operating officer.
Previously serving as senior
vice president of operations, Sinn
will now oversee the university's
daily operations and lead strategic
initiatives aimed at enhancing
student success, driving opera-
tional excellence and fostering
institutional growth.
Sinn began her career at Post
University in 2010 as assistant
director of admissions for the
accelerated degree program. A Post
University alumna, Sinn earned her
MBA in leadership and entrepreneur-
ship in 2018.
Torrington-based
Community Health
& Wellness Center
(CHWC) CEO Joanne
Borduas has been
appointed by Gov. Ned
Lamont to the state's
healthcare cabinet as a represen-
tative of community health centers
across Connecticut.
Borduas will serve a four-year term
ending in November 2028.
The cabinet meets bimonthly and
consists of 38 members, including
government officials and medical
practice, insurance and small busi-
ness leaders, among others.
New Haven-based
Babbidge Construction
Co. has named Michael
Sarro as its new
director of estimating.
In this new role, Sarro
will lead the develop-
ment and management of the firm's
estimating department.
With over 15 years of experience in
the construction industry, Sarro began
his career as a journeyman mason and
later project manager, before transi-
tioning into estimating. Prior to joining
Babbidge, he served as director of esti-
mating at Branford-based Pat Munger
Construction Co.

Hartford-based insurance
technology company Insurity has
promoted Sylvester Mathis to
the role of chief revenue officer,
in charge of spearheading the
company's growth strategy.
Mathis will also continue in his
role as chief insurance officer. His
career has included leadership
roles at LexisNexis, Allianz, Fire-
man's Fund, Navistar and North
American Insurance Group.
Stamford-based industrial
manufacturing and technology
company Crane Company has
promoted Alejandro (Alex) Alcala
to chief operating officer.
In this role, Alcala will provide
both strategic and operational
oversight of all Crane business
segments, as well as the Crane
Business System organization.
Alcala joined Crane in 2013
as president of Crane Pumps
& Systems, and was then
promoted to president of Crane
ChemPharma & Energy in 2014. In
March 2020, he was promoted to
senior vice president, overseeing
Crane's process flow technologies
segment as well as the regional
presidents of China, India, the
Middle East and Africa.
