16 Worcester Business Journal | January 13, 2025 | wbjournal.com Polar Park & Apex Entertainment offer memorable experiences for company outings BY ERIC CASEY WBJ Managing Editor B E S T O F B U S I N E S S E V E N T S & V E N U E S W hether they're located in Middlesex or Worcester County, Central Massa- chusetts businesses are just a short drive away from either one of the two top venues for employee outings in the region. To the east, there's the Apex En- tertainment center. Built on top of a long-abandoned apple orchard in 2017 on Marlborough's west side, the sprawl- ing 100,000-square-foot entertainment destination has a litany of entertain- ment options to choose from, including bowling, indoor go-karts, and sports simulators. Additional businesses in the building provide access to entertainment like axe-throwing and a trampoline park, bringing some much needed fun to the city, which lacked anything like the com- plex has to offer. One advantage of having such a massive and all-encompassing facility is it provides businesses looking to supply their employees with a little R&R time with a variety of options, ranging from a small 10-person get-together to renting out the entire 1,600-person-capacity facility, said George Aronstein, chief operating officer at Apex. "ere's a ton of stuff in the venue that can be utilized," Aronstein said. "Com- panies can build opportunities for their employees based on a variety of scales, from cost, to the amount of people, to the fun level, and go from there." To the west, Polar Park in Worces- ter's Canal District serves as another sprawling destination for employee outings, regardless of size or scope. e 9,508-seat ballpark and home to the Worcester Red Sox can handle anything from a casual night at the ballpark for a small startup or nonprof- it to hosting 600 Coghlin Cos. em- ployees for its annual company night, which has become an annual labor day tradition for the Westborough manu- facturer. e stadium provides all the ex- citement of attending a professional Save the date: Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025 Top of the Tower, Worcester Thank you for voting us Best Nonprofit Fundraiser Event!
