2025 CHARITY EVENT GUIDE • HARTFORD BUSINESS JOURNAL 1 ONWARD ONWARD860 860 U nited Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut has entered an exciting period of evolution and transformation as we commemorate our 100th anniversary. Over the past two years, we have heard from hundreds of stakeholders and residents in community conversations across our region that tweaks are not enough. Our communities want to see bold change that reduces disparities and creates long-term impact. ONWARD ONWARD860 860 "For 100 years, our local United Way has forged partnerships and mobilized resources to address critical, local causes providing a hand up to those in need. It was through United Way's Community Campaign over 30 years ago that I was first introduced to the power of United Way, and it's been part of my DNA ever since." — Jim O'Meara Chair 2024 UNITED WAY COMMUNITY CAMPAIGN We have answered that call by setting forth on a strong direction for the future. Together, we are United to End Poverty. We are currently engaging partners from across the region in co-creating solutions that will make a significant impact where we live, work and play. You will not want to miss a sneak preview of these solutions at our Centennial Gala taking place on December 14, 2024. You are invited to be part of ending poverty in the 860 region, and United Way's events are essential to fulfilling our community goals. United Way's events are a clear reflection of the work we do and the causes we stand for: • Read Across America Day in March of 2025 engages volunteers with the experience of reading aloud in classrooms and advances our work in closing gaps in child literacy. • THE Commercial Real Estate and Building Industry Breakfast: Building Foundations takes place April 23, 2025. This is the event of the year for the commercial real estate and building industry and offers attendees the opportunity to build strong relationships and connections through networking while raising awareness and funds to reduce and prevent homelessness in Greater Hartford. • United Way Women United's Power of the Purse Luncheon and Silent Auction returns June 12, 2025, and creates opportunities for local women and families to achieve financial security. Join 1,000 women committed to philanthropy for an afternoon of empowerment and inspiration. • The 3rd Annual ImpaCT Awards will be celebrated in the Fall of 2025 in partnership with FOX61. This event gives us the opportunity to recognize those making a lasting impact in our communities. We can close gaps in child literacy, wages, housing and life expectancy so everyone succeeds. We will leverage 100 years of expertise and experience to deepen our collective impact. And, we are committed to aligning partners across sectors to end poverty in all its forms. Join us and help to create a lasting change for people across our 52- town region. Whether you attend one of our events, volunteer at one of our 860Cares projects, donate your resources or advocate for policies that we know can change the lives of local families, United Way has the right philanthropic opportunity for you. I look forward to working alongside you as we shape the future of our community. Here's to the next century of impact – Onward860! UNITED TO END POVERTY Sincerely, Eric Harrison President and CEO United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut
