Watkinson School is Hartford's oldest independent school and has been committed to educational excellence in Greater Hartford since 1881. Our mission is to develop in our students the power to shape their lives and the world around them. We are a co-ed day school serving students in grades 6-12/ PG. We draw students from 40 towns throughout Connecticut and south- central Massachusetts. In the last three years, Watkinson graduates have been offered $7 million in merit scholarship college aid. More than 60% of our students receive some level of financial aid. We have myriad programs providing access to Watkinson for Hartford students, including: • Head Scholars: begun more than 30 years ago to help diversify our school population while offering Hartford area students greater educational opportunities, the Head's Scholar Program has awarded over five million dollars in scholarships to students from the greater Hartford area • City Scholars: a one-year program providing a post-graduate experience at e Academy at Watkinson for deserving Hartford-area high school graduates • Grace Scholars: a fund designated to enable 8th-grade graduates of Grace Academy, in Hartford, to enroll at Watkinson for high school • SPHERE Summer Enrichment: a nonprofit, five-week tutorial program for 60-70 Hartford and East Hartford youth entering grades 1-5 held on our beautiful campus in the summer Join us at our next info session.
