Recipients included Northern Forest Center (Oxford County), Northern Maine Development Commission (Aroostook County), Penobscot Nation and Sunrise County Economic Council (Washington County), $200,000 each; Eastern Maine Development Corp. (Penobscot County), Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians, Mi'kmaq Nation, Piscataquis County Economic Development Council, Passamaquoddy Tribe at Motahkomikuk and Passamaquoddy Tribe at Sipayik, $190,000 each; Island Institute (Hancock, Waldo, Knox County), $185,000; Somerset Economic Development Corp., $180,000; Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments and Southern Maine Planning and Development Commission (York County), $175,000; GrowSmart Maine (Kennebec County), $174,974; Greater Franklin Economic & Community Development and Greater Portland Council of Governments, $160,000 each; and Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission (Lincoln, Sagadahoc County), $150,000. The Governor's Cabinet on Aging awarded a total of $330,000 to 39 Lifelong Maine's Age-Friendly Communities statewide as part of its Community Connections pro- gram. Grants will be used to support projects that align with the cabinet's goals of creating sustainable com- munities and enhancing community connections that improve the quality of life, inclusion and engagement of older adults. Maine's outdoor recreation economy grew by 9% from 2022 to 2023, gen- erating $3.4 billion for Maine's econ- omy and accounting for 29,863 jobs, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce's Bureau of Economic Analysis. Maine's median sale price was $395,000 in October, down from the all-time high of $409,450 in September, MaineListings reported. October's median sales price was an increase of 5.05% from the same month last year.
