In its statement, Cigna said it "is not pursuing a combination with Humana Inc." The Wall Street Journal reported in late November 2023 that Cigna and Humana were negotiating a potential stock-and-cash deal. However, Cigna abandoned that effort a month later, after the two companies failed to agree on the price and other terms. East Hartford-based fuel cell company HyAxiom Inc. has notified the state Department of Labor it will lay off 67 workers early next year at its South Windsor manufacturing plant and East Hartford headquarters. It's the second workforce reduction for the company this year. HyAxiom's parent company, South Korea-based Doosan Fuel Cell, recently reported a nearly 30% drop in third-quarter sales, which contributed to an operating loss. HyAxiom said the job cuts are a result of consolidating some global production to South Korea. Meantime, Danbury-based FuelCell Energy Inc. announced this month that it reduced its workforce by 17%, or 90 positions, amid significant recent financial struggles. Over two rounds of layoffs — one in September, and a larger one in November — the company trimmed jobs across its U.S. loca- tions, including Connecticut, as well as Canada and Germany. FuelCell said the restructuring was part of an effort to reduce the company's operating costs by 15% in fiscal year 2025, amid "slower-than-expected investments in clean energy." BermudAir features business and economy classes onboard its fleet of Embraer 175 aircraft. The new route to Bermuda follows the CAA's announcement earlier this month that Avelo Airlines has added seven new routes from Bradley to North Carolina, Florida, Houston, Jamaica and Mexico.
